Who We Are
We believe in the capacity of youth, university students and skilled professionals to create a new future for communities in need. Our work shapes global citizens who partner to bring real benefit and change to local communities, the marketplace and the world. Together we bring assistance to children at risk, victims of terror, survivors of natural disasters and refugees fleeing oppressive governments.
Imagine Thailand is a registered Thai foundation (registered as Emergency Relief & Development Overseas (Thailand) Foundation, reg. no. กท 1917) with Thai and Canadian leadership. Motivated by our Christian faith, we assist people regardless of race, religion, political affiliation or gender.
Since 2002 in Thailand, Peter and Cavelle Dove, as cross-cultural workers with PAOC, have been focusing ministry on two separate sides of society. Peter works with those who enjoy opportunity; Cavelle works with those on society’s margins. Peter’s focus has been on university students, recent graduates and young professionals. Cavelle has been key nationally in assisting grassroots organizations finding ways to meet local community needs. Much of what Peter does is based in Bangkok; much of what Cavelle does is based in disaster zones, areas of conflict and among displaced peoples.
Peter and Cavelle saw a need for these two sides to connect. Thailand’s fast growing economy and the post-secondary education system that supports this “Asian Tiger” largely fails to create “world changers”—graduates who have the passion and capacity to bring real and meaningful change to their world.
Imagine Thailand is a bridge between these opposite ends. We believe in those who have society’s permission to bring change can do just that—catalyze change. We believe in a new generation of young adults who want to make a meaningful difference in their world. We believe in Thai students and young professionals who stand ready to bring transformation to local communities and society. We see young adults as having the ability to be community contributors, people who can add value to a local community by improving the quality of life.
We are working to capture the potential of young adult culture to bring real benefit among marginalized communities, in disaster zones, areas of conflict and among displaced peoples in Southeast Asia.
